Sih\u0103stria Putnei Monastery is a Christian-Orthodox monastery of monks, from the Archdiocese of Suceva and R\u0103d\u0103u\u021bilor.<\/p>\n

Located in the north of Bucovina, 4 km from Putna Monastery, Sihastria Putnei<\/em>today it represents a harbor of tranquility, peace and blessing, which spring from a centuries-old past of holiness and hardship. The exact date of the establishment of Sihastria Putna cannot be established with complete certainty, due to the lack of sources. According to the Historian of the Putna Sihastria, authored by Abbot Sila (1753-1781), the Putna Sihastria was founded during the reign of the Pious Voivode Stefan the Great and Saint, when we also learn about the first living Sihastria known by the name: a Tatar Christianized, then became a monk with the name of Athanasius, came here from the Putna Monastery. In the opinion of many historians, not only monks from the Putna Monastery settled around the pious one, but, after 1470, when Saint Daniil the Hermit moved to Voronet, some of his disciples went up the Putna river valley and settled here, you are attracted, among other things, by the beauty of the surroundings and the special spiritual charge of the place.<\/p>\n

After a certain time, the hermits decided to build a church for themselves, so that they would no longer have to go down to Putna for the Holy Liturgy and for receiving the Holy Communion. At that time, the area was forested, so that the hermits here, first \"cleaning the place of the forest\", built a wooden church in which they performed the late services. However, we do not know the year or the hierarch who officiated this consecration.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The tranquility of the monks living in Sihastria Putnei was disturbed at the end of the 17th century by the unleashed armies of the Polish king Ioan Sobieski (1674-1696). It will remain like this until the peace of Karlowitz (1699), when the monks who had wandered through the mountains returned to their places. The first abbot of Sihastria known by his name is Lazar, a disciple of the holy Metropolitan Dosoftei of Moldavia (1671-1686). With the support of the great treasurer prince Ilie Cantacuzino, he built a new little wooden church in which, as the sources tell us, \"barely fit four or five hermits\". His successors at the head of the monastic settlement were Teodosie (+ 1715) and Dosoftei (+ 1753). In the second half of the 18th century, Sihastria Putnei experienced a special flourishing during the time of Abbot Sila (1753-1781), originally from the lands of Botosani.<\/p>\n

M\u0103n\u0103stirea Sih\u0103stria Putnei este o m\u0103n\u0103stire cre\u015ftin-ortodox\u0103 de c\u0103lug\u0103ri, din Arhiepiscopia Sucevei \u015fi R\u0103d\u0103u\u0163ilor. Situata in nordul Bucovinei, la 4 km de Manastirea Putna, Sihastria Putneireprezinta astazi un liman de liniste, pace si binecuvantare, ce izvorasc dintr-un trecut multisecular de sfintenie si nevointa. Data exacta a infiintarii Sihastriei Putnei nu poate fi stabilita cu deplina certitudine, din cauza lipsei izvoarelor. Potrivit Istoricului Sihastriei Putna, avandu-l ca autor pe egumenul Sila (1753-1781), Sihastria Putnei a fost intemeiata in timpul domniei Binecredinciosului Voievod Stefan cel Mare si Sfant, cand aflam si despre cel dintai vietuitor al Sihastriei cunoscut cu numele: un tatar increstinat, calugarit apoi cu numele de Atanasie, venit aici de la Manastirea Putna. In opinia multor istorici, nu numai calugari din Manastirea Putna s-au asezat in jurul cuviosului, ci, dupa 1470, cand Sfantul Daniil Sihastru s-a mutat la Voronet, unii dintre ucenicii sai s-au urcat pe valea paraului Putna si s-au stabilit aici, atrasi printre altele si de frumusetea imprejurimilor si de incarcatura spirituala deosebita a locului. Dupa un anumit timp, sihastrii s-au hotarat sa-si faca o biserica pentru ei, astfel incat sa nu mai fie nevoiti sa coboare la Putna pentru Sfanta Liturghie si pentru primirea Sfintei impartasanii. Zona era pe atunci impadurita, astfel incat sihastrii de aici, mai intai \u201ecuratind locul de padure\u201d, au zidit o biserica de lemn in care savarseau slujbele indatinate. Nu cunoastem insa nici anul si nici ierarhul care a oficiat aceasta sfintire. Linistea monahilor vietuitori la Sihastria Putnei a fost tulburata la sfarsitul secolului al XVII-lea de catre armatele dezlantuite ale regelui polon Ioan Sobieski (1674-1696). Va ramane astfel pana la pacea de la Karlowitz (1699), cand calugarii ce pribegisera prin munti s-au intors la locurile lor. Primul egumen al Sihastriei cunoscut cu numele este Lazar, un ucenic al sfantului mitropolit Dosoftei al Moldovei (1671-1686). Cu sprijinul marelui vistiernic domnesc Ilie Cantacuzino, el ridica o noua bisericuta de lemn in care, dupa cum ne spun izvoarele, \u201eabia incapeau patru-cinci sihastri\u201d. Urmasii lui la conducerea asezamantului monahal au fost Teodosie (+ 1715) si Dosoftei (+ 1753). In a doua jumatate a secolului al XVIII-lea, Sihastria Putnei cunoaste o inflorire deosebita in timpul egumenului Sila (1753-1781), originar din tinuturile Botosanilor.
