In Marginea, the beginning of pottery is established by historians around the year 1500. Pottery appeared as a necessity of people to store the products obtained. Burnt clay vessels contributed to the development of primitive society through the possibility of storing food and preparing it.<\/p>\n<p>Imagine your kitchen or pantry without these everyday objects. Due to the nature of the geographical location, the commune of Marginea is surrounded by forests, has a clayey soil and is crossed by the water of the Sucevita river, these being fundamental conditions for this craft in which clay, water and fire form a magical triangle. Before the persecution of communism in Marginea, there were at least 60 families of potters, as declared by an old potter who came all the way to Munich to present his craft.<\/p>\n<p>During the communist period, the possession of a potter's wheel was considered a crime and many potters had to give up this craft or practice it secretly. Much later, the communists tried to exploit this craft for propaganda purposes and tried to relaunch it in a cooperative form, even trying to mechanize this exclusively manual craft by introducing the electrically operated potter's wheel and mechanical mixers. In Marginea inceputul olaritului este stabilit de catre istorici in jurul anului 1500. Olaritul a aparut ca o necesitate a oamenilor de a stoca produsele obtinute. Vasele din lut ars au contribuit la dezvoltarea societatii primitive prin posibilitatea stocarii alimentelor si a prepararii acestora. Imaginati-va bucataria sau camara dumneavoastra fara aceste obiecte cotidiene. Prin natura amplasarii geografice comuna Marginea este inconjurata de paduri , dispune de un sol argilos si este strabatuta de apa raului Sucevita, acestea fiind conditii fundamentale pentru acest mestesug in care lutul, apa si focul formeaza un triunghi magic.Inainte de prigoana comunismului in Marginea erau cel putin 60 de familii de olari, dupa cum declara un vechi olar care a ajuns pina la Munchen sa-si prezinte mestesugul. In perioada comunismului posesia unei roti de olar era considerata infractiune iar multi olari au fost nevoiti sa renunte la acest mestesug sau sa-l practice pe ascuns. Mult mai tirziu comunistii au incercat exploatarea acestui mestesug in scop de propaganda si au incercat relansarea lui intr-o forma cooperatista, incercind chiar mecanizarea acestui mestesug exclusiv manual prin introducerea rotii de olar actionata electric si a malaxoarelor mecanice.
